Stop manually scanning through pages. Air's Document Intelligence is an AI-powered feature that automatically extracts and understands the text within your files. This makes the content of your PDFs, presentations, and documents fully searchable, turning your workspace into a powerful knowledge base so you can find exactly what you need in seconds.

Document Intelligence works in the background to enhance your workspace. When you upload a supported document, Air's AI gets to work in two key ways:

• Smart Summary: Get an instant understanding of what a file is about without having to read through it. Air provides a concise, AI-generated summary of the document's content.
• Enhanced Search: The entire text content of the document—along with its smart summary—becomes part of the file's searchable metadata. This means you can find files by searching for keywords and phrases contained within them, not just in their filenames.

From the asset details view

To see Document Intelligence in action, navigate to any supported document file in your workspace. Supported file types include Word (.doc, .docx), PowerPoint (.ppt, .pptx, .potx), Keynote (.key), and PDF (.pdf).

1. Open a document to see the asset details view.
2. In the sidebar on the right, under the Info tab, find the Smart Metadata menu.
3. Here you will find the AI-generated Smart summary for the document. The summary is initially truncated; click Show more to expand it and read the full text.

From workspace search

The most powerful part of Document Intelligence is how it transforms your ability to search your workspace. Because the content of your documents is now indexed, you can use the main search bar to find files based on what's inside them.

For example, if you're looking for a specific brand guide but can't remember the filename, you can search for a term you know is inside, like "color palette" or "brand idea." Air will return all assets that contain this phrase, including the document you need.
